Oh man... I showed this video to my kids. I pointed at the screen like a proud fangirl parent and said, "See? This is what a great live-action adaptation looks like!" I paused the video. I rewound it. We marveled at the casting. We talked about which characters looked the most accurate. We shared a moment. A moment based on a lie.
Because apparently... it's all fake.
Yep. That viral 35-second "behind-the-scenes" clip that showed actors on set filming a live-action version of Netflix's K-Pop Demon Hunters? Totally AI-generated. No set. No cast. No production. No movie.
Just lies and deception.
The video, which showed stunningly realistic actors dressed up as Rumi, Zoey, Mira, Jinu, and even other Saja Boys members, was viewed over 2.6 million times in less than 24 hours. And now, we know the truth: it came from Fantasoner, a YouTube channel that specializes in hyper-realistic AI-generated content. And honestly, they nailed it. Painfully so.
Fans are split down the middle. Some were like "wow, AI is getting good." Others (like me) are screaming into the digital void wondering what's real, what's fake, and whether all of our favorite actors have secretly been deepfaked for a while now.
Even the ethical side of this isn't cute. With the growing use of AI in K-pop and K-dramas, some experts and fans are raising serious concerns about consent, deepfakes, and digital identity theft. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if my next family vacation slideshow turns out to be AI-generated too.
Anyway. If you were also fooled by this beautifully fake footage, just know you're not alone. Reality is optional now.
